The
B06/10 departs from the B05/40 in the area of the "coke". On the
B05/40 the duct
just ahead of the rear wheels allows air to flow into the car in order
to expand into the base area at the rear of the car reducing drag.
On the B06/10 this duct doesn't exist and instead a coolant radiator exit
duct sits in its place with heated air being expelled from the chassis.
This was necessitated by the need to fit the larger radiators and intercoolers
(and associated plumbing, exhaust headers, turbos, turbo airbox, etc.)
expected of LMP1s. |
By
the Houston race (though photographed here at Mid-Ohio, Rnd 3) the radiator
exit duct had increased in area. This was the result of additional
wind tunnel testing carried out since the season opener at Sebring. |
The
rather cramped (relative to the B05/40) B06/10 engine bay. |
