The
longtails unclothed. The R8's rear wing is bonded directly to the
rear bodywork. The composite structure seen here further strengthens
the rear body work and transmits downforce to the chassis. One draw
back though is the increased polar moment (longtail body work plus underlying
composite subframe). |
The
R8's rear wing. Bolted to the center section of the rear body
work is a gurney flap. This increase base area, produces downforce,
but also increases engine bay flow through. |
