>>Audi has announced a new LMP program to replace the Audi R8. The time table puts the car on the track testing by late 2005 and also sets a 2006 Sebring 12 hour entry: "This extremely hard race has already proven its worth during the R8 project as an excellent dress rehearsal for Le Mans,” says Audi Motorsport Head Dr Wolfgang Ullrich. No additional information is forthcoming at this time (chassis type name, technical details, etc). Now, who's set to challenge them? Bring on the comeptition!
Additional to the above annoucement, Audi has apparently commited to works supported Import teams to run the Audi R8 for a "Farwell Tour" in 2005. According to the press release, Audi USA and Audi France will be running the R8 chassis in the American Le Mans Series, at the Le Mans 24 Hours, and in the Le Mans Endurance Series. The details are to follow in the coming weeks with the team annoucements.
