The
Audi R10 was the first diesel powered sportscar to win at Le Mans overall,
doing so in 2006. The R10 dominated the American Le Mans Series that
year as well going undefeated. 2007 was somewhat of a different story.
The introduction of the Porsche RS Spyder LMP2 gave Audi cause for concern,
challenging the R10 on all occasions and defeating them more than a few
times. But at Le Mans the status quo was maintained and the R10 handily
defeated the sophomore Peugeot 908 effort.
