The
Kudzu DLY is an obvious departure from the most recent series of Kudzu
chassis. The most striking feature about the DLY is that its architecture
is aimed at pure downforce development more so than any other Kudzu WSC
design to date The predecessor DLM-4 4-rotor was scrapped after it
was deemed that the chassis and handling problems were significant enough
to warrant a redesign. The DLY takes what was learned from the DLM-4
and repackages it into a car that is between the DLM 3-rotor and the DLM-4
4-rotor in size. The DLY is designed around ACO LMP rules and will
be fitted with carbon brakes. Everything has been redesigned, nothing
carries over from the DLM-4.
As for the designation of the car. The 'D' stands for Downing, the 'L' stands for Lynn, and the 'Y' in DLY designates Wayne Yawn. Wayne's input is as much as Dave's, Wayne being responsible for the front and rear suspension design ![]() Image courtesy of Dave Lynn ![]() Image courtesy of Dave Lynn |
